Athlete, Nicole Burkoski (’18), is passionate about running. She participates in all three running sports, consisting of Cross Country in the fall, Indoor Track and Field in the winter, and Outdoor Track and Field in the spring.

So far this year, she has been a part of the 2017 Cross Country State Championship team and plans to win more.

She runs the longer distances such as the 800 meter and the mile.  She thinks she may even run the 2 mile this season.  She runs longer distances during practices in order to be in shape for her races.

“Even when it’s a rest day, it’s really not,” Burkoski said.

Above all else, she is a team player.

“Nicole cares so much more about the success of the team and her teammates than she does about individual accomplishments,” Cross Country and Track coach Adam Hittner said.

Her teammates seem to agree that Burkoski is all about her team and running.

“Running with Nicole is really inspirational,” teammate Lilian Behan (’18) said. “She always keeps going. She never has bad days.”

She is undecided on her college running career but plans to run on her own regardless.

“Running at Hereford and with the people has positively affected my mental state,” Burkoski said. “I learned that I can succeed by pushing myself harder than I initially thought, and I will always carry that with me.”
