Miami Heat try for 3-peat

The NBA season is back! Can the Miami Heat make it three championships in a row? Can Lebron James defend the league MVP? Does Derrick Rose have anything to say about it?

The NBA season kicks off Tuesday, October 29 with the defending champs, The Miami Heat, taking on Derrick Rose(2010-2011 NBA MVP) and the Chicago Bulls. Derrick Rose is back from his tearing his ACL in the playoffs of the 2011-2012 season.

There was a lot of drama and criticism surrounding his injury because he sat out the entire next season. People called him “soft” and lost respect for him. This season is redemption for Derrick Rose; will he ever be the same?

The first game will be followed by a city battle of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers. Kobe Bryant looks to bounce back from his torn Achilles as new Clippers coach Doc Rivers makes his debut. Later in the week, the excitement continues with the Bulls hosting the New York Knicks which will be the return of Derrick Rose to Chicago. It will likely be an excited crowed happy to have their star player back.

The biggest regular season day in the NBA is Christmas day. In their second year in Brooklyn, the Nets host the Chicago bulls. After that, Kevin Durant and the Thunder travel to Madison Square Garden to take on Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks. It will be a battle of the top scorers from last year: Kevin Durant vs Carmelo Anthony. Dwight Howard then joins the excitement as the Houston Rockets face last year’s Western Conference champions, the San Antonio Spurs. That night, there is a battle of two teams from California, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Golden State Warriors.             Only a couple of weeks later on January 20, Martin Luther King Day, four games are scheduled, as the Brooklyn Nets travel across the city to take on the New York Knicks. The Grizzlies host the newly named New Orleans Pelicans, (previously the Hornets), the Lakers then head across the country to Chicago to battle the Bulls; the Pacers face the Warriors in the Oakland to cap off the night.             “I love watching the excitement of the NBA,” said Brooks Wilhelm (12). “Last year’s playoffs were some of the best games that I’ve ever watched. So this year with the return of Derrick Rose, should be even better.”
