In April, at the Maryland Association of student councils conference, principle Joe Jira was presented with the MASC Wayne Perry Principal of the Year award for 2016-17. Nominated by student council president, Jordyn Wilson, Jira was surprised at receiving the award. In her nomination state highlighted Jira’s greatness by stating that he “quickly transformed Hereford into a Maryland and National Blue Ribbon School and challenges us to improve every day.”
