Donald Trump leads presidential election polls
January 13, 2016
With the Presidential Election about a year away, the Republicans and Democrats are fighting to fill in the position. But one candidate stands out more than any other candidate in the history of the United States: Donald Trump.
Donald Trump is the leading candidate in the election as of right now. According to an article by Steve Benen on msnbc.com, “The latest Monmouth poll was released yesterday: Donald Trump: 32% (up from 26% in a Monmouth poll in November). Ted Cruz: 14% (up from 9%).” This shows how dominate Trump is during his campaign.
Trump has gotten a lot of attention from the media during his campaign due to the many controversial things he has said. According to an article on cnn.com by Jeremy Diamond, a campaign press release said, “Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our county’s representatives figure out what is going on.”
“I think Donald Trump would be a strong leader and he has a lot of support because people are fed up with the government not getting anything done,” said Austin Lehnert. “It’s about time we have a conservative leader who doesn’t beat around the bush.”
I think Trump would be a greater because he has great experience with business, considering he is the chairman and president of The Trump Organization, which is a billion dollar company. He is not afraid to act upon radical Islamic terrorism, and will hopefully put an end to terrorist groups like ISIS.

I find this article extremely troubling, for two reasons: One, it shows that Donald Trump has actually gained a foothold in not only the Republicans but in the general student body here at Hereford, something I never thought would happen; and Two, it gives little to no information not only about the man himself but about the very opinion the article is supposed to be endorsing.
The fact that Mr. Trump is a good businessman does not in any way, shape, or form, qualify him to run a country. Time and time again he has shown to the American people that he is not only incapable of handling his temper, but he cannot seem to make himself respect any American citizen who does not agree with him. He has insulted, for the world to hear, the mother and father of a brave Muslim man who died fighting for our country; he has consistently ridiculed the not only female populace of this nation, but most non-white Americans as well; and only once has he ever stated, in his entire campaign, a legitimate non-rhetoric-based system for achieving any of what he promised in the beginning. He seems not to know the very concept of diplomacy, nor to give a damn about anybody but himself. Ask yourself: Is that the man you really want sitting in the Oval Office, with the briefcase of nuclear codes at his beck and call, and the other leaders of the world hanging on his every word? The obvious answer, one that the American people have apparently missed, is no.
