Math competition comes to Hereford
The 2014 University of Maryland Mathematics Competition will be held on Wednesday, October 22 from 1:00 -2:20PM.
The first part of the competition is a 25 question test, with 75 minutes to complete it. After the tests have been scored students who were in the top five percent will be notified that they have been selected to move on to the second round.
There are only two public schools participating from the Baltimore County area, said AP Calculus teacher Zahra Khanssari, the other four are private.
All members of Mu Alpha Theta at Hereford High are required to participate in the competition.
“It’s my first year so I’m not really sure what to expect, but we’ll see how it goes,” said Liz Barranco (’16).
